Pakistani defense minister: will continue to purchase Chinese equipment

On June 26th, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers’ Meeting held in Qingdao, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Asif showed great interest in Chinese military equipment. During the meeting, he visited the Type 052D guided – missile destroyer of the Chinese Navy with great enthusiasm, his eyes lingering on the advanced equipment and excellent structure of the warship for a long time.

When answering reporters’ questions, Minister Asif firmly stated, “Pakistan has always maintained a close and friendly cooperative relationship with China. Over the years, most of the equipment of our military has come from China. After being tested in actual combat, these ‘Made in China’ equipment have shown excellent performance, far exceeding our expectations. In the next few decades, we will unswervingly continue our military procurement cooperation with China, and this profound cooperative friendship will be passed down from generation to generation.”

Looking back, Pakistan has long been under the military pressure of India. Its national strength has been restricted in development, and its military power has been relatively weak. In order to reverse this unfavorable strategic situation, Pakistan has actively strengthened cooperation with China in recent years. By purchasing a large number of advanced Chinese weapons and equipment and receiving professional strategic and tactical training, the Pakistani military has undergone a transformation and gradually grown into an elite force with excellent equipment and high – quality personnel. In the recent India – Pakistan conflict, with the advanced Chinese equipment and efficient tactical command, the Pakistani military caught the Indian army off guard. This victory shocked the international community.

In the context of modern warfare, advanced weapons and equipment are undoubtedly the key factors determining victory or defeat. Through in – depth cooperation with China, Pakistan has personally experienced the great advantages brought by equipment upgrading. The purpose of Minister Asif’s participation in the SCO Defense Ministers’ Meeting this time is to inspect China’s advanced weapons and equipment, hoping to formulate a scientific and reasonable procurement plan for the next – step development of the Pakistani military.

Reliable sources reveal that China’s guided – missile destroyers are very likely to become the “star products” on Pakistan’s next military procurement list. If the cooperation is reached, it will further enhance the combat capability of the Pakistani Navy and also open a new chapter in the military cooperation between China and Pakistan.
