Chinese reporter injured in Russia by Ukrainian drone attack

According to Phoenix TV and several Russian media reports, on the afternoon of June 26th local time, Phoenix TV reporter Lu Yugu was interviewing in the Kursk region of Russia when he was attacked by a Ukrainian drone targeting local facilities, sustaining injuries to his head. He was wearing a bulletproof with the word “PRESS” printed on it, interviewing villagers in the Kolenevo village, which is less than 30 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, when suddenly he attacked by a suicide drone. The shrapnel cut across the top of his head, and the video footage showed his white hair instantly dyed red with blood.

After Yuguang was injured, he was first sent to a first aid station and then transferred to a hospital in Kursk city for further examination and treatment. After treatment, condition was stable and he was out of danger, but he was very dedicated and wanted to continue working after getting stitches.

After the incident, the Russian Foreign Ministry strongly criticized Ukrainian military for deliberately attacking journalists. Spokesperson Zakharova called it a terrorist attack, pointed out that the Ukrainian side intended to eliminate journalists who objectively reported the facts and also called on international institutions such as the OSCE, UNESCO, and the United Nations departments in charge of human rights affairs to respond to this incident, to characterize the Ukrainian’s behavior, but so far no response has been received. Russia has made it clear that it will ensure that the perpetrators are punished accordingly
